CEFCU Member Appreciation Scholarship

Description

The Illinois State University offers the Citizens Equity First Credit Union (CEFCU) has a long history of assisting its membership in securing adequate financial support for higher education. CEFCU recognizes the benefits to the entire community when opportunities for college education are within the reach of deserving and talented students. In recognition of CEFCU's commitment to higher education and Illinois State University's ongoing educational excellence, the CECFU Member Appreciation Scholarship has been established.

Scholarships will be available to all students regardless of age, race, sex, or program of study. 

Criteria & Contact Information 

To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • be enrolled or have been accepted for enrollment at Illinois State University on a full-time enrollment basis (12 hours or more) in an undergraduate program of study;

  • remain in good academic and disciplinary standing with the University;

  • be a CEFCU member with at least 6 months of membership at the time you submit the scholarship application; 

  • be and remain a member in good standing and in good social standing, as determined by CEFCU's leadership team; 

  • have a minimum cumulative high school, transfer, or ISU GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale; 

  • demonstrate a financial need, although the scholarships are not solely based on financial need.

 

In order to establish need, a student must file and complete the 2021-2022 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) process for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Critical Language Scholarship Program

Description

The American Council for International Education offers the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program, which is a summer study abroad opportunity for American college and university students to learn languages essential to America’s engagement with the world. CLS Program Scholars cover one year of university-level study over the course of a summer and develop essential intercultural fluency in regions that are critical to U.S. national security and economic prosperity.

Criteria & Contact Information 

Scholars are selected from a national pool of applicants representing a diverse range of institutions, including four-year colleges and universities, community colleges, and minority-serving institutions such as Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Tribal Colleges, and Hispanic-serving institutions. Students of diverse disciplines and majors are encouraged to apply.

Description

​The University of the West offers the International Buddhist Education Foundation (IBEF) Scholarship to encourage outstanding students in religious studies and Buddhist chaplaincy program who need financial aid to study Buddhism and complete their education.

Criteria & Contact Information 

A. The following students are eligible to apply:

a) New or current students in the Department of Religious Studies and Department of Buddhist Chaplaincy at University of the West who recognize the concept of Humanistic Buddhism and are not currently receiving any other form of full scholarship;

b) Ph.D. students and monastic DBMin students who currently enroll in the doctoral coursework. After successful completion of the qualifying exam or the candidacy portfolio requirement, Ph.D. and DMin candidates cannot continually receive this type of scholarship and may instead apply for the IBEF Graduate Student Research Grant.

 

B. Applicants must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Have a Term GPA and Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above;

  • Be a full-time student: Graduate applicants must enroll in a minimum of 9 units per semester. Exceptions to this rule are only possible under the following circumstances:

MA and MDiv students

MA and MDiv students who are in the final semester of their degree studies and do not need to be enrolled full-time to fulfill graduation requirements. (Important: The student still needs to register for a minimum of 3 credit hours of course work to be eligible). This petition must be in writing and can only be made once for that final semester. Subsequent petitions will not be considered. 

 

Ph.D. Students and Monastic DBMin Students

Ph.D. students and monastic DBMin students who are not enrolled full-time may petition in writing to be considered for IBEF under the following circumstances:

  • The student is in the final semester of their required course work and does not need to be enrolled full-time to complete the course requirements. (Important: The student still needs to register for a minimum of 3 credit hours of course work to be eligible). This petition must be in writing and can only be made once for that final semester. Subsequent petitions will not be considered, or

  • The student has completed all course requirements and is taking their qualifying examination. (Important: The student must register for a minimum of 3 credit hours per semester for preparing qualifying exam to be eligible).

Description

The 180 Medical Scholarship Program is open to full-time college students living with specific medical conditions, including spinal cord injuries, spina bifida, transverse myelitis, neurogenic bladder, or an ostomy.

Criteria & Contact Information 

To qualify, applicants must meet the following:

  • students attending a two-year, four-year, or graduate school program full time in the fall;  

  • be under a physician’s care for a spinal cord injury, spina bifida, transverse myelitis, neurogenic bladder, or ostomy (ileostomy, colostomy, or urostomy);  

 

  • be a legal resident in the United States. Medical school students are not eligible to apply.” 

To be considered for a scholarship, applicants must include the following:

  • completed application form;

  • typed questions;

  • typed essay or video; 

 

  • physician’s statement of diagnosis;

  

  • most recent official transcript;

  

  • document verifying acceptance by a college or current enrollment.

Microsoft recognizes the value of diversity in computing. The Microsoft Research Dissertation Grant aims to increase the pipeline of diverse talent receiving advanced degrees in computing-related fields by providing a research funding opportunity for doctoral students who are underrepresented in the field of computing. This includes those who self-identify as a woman, African American, Black, Hispanic, Latinx, American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, LGBTQI+, and/or person with a disability.​

The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the American Accounting Association (AICPA / AAA) offer the 2021 Effective Learning Strategies Awards to professors by recognizing them as champions of education. The AICPA and AAA  are requesting professors to submit their most innovative accounting course teaching techniques for the opportunity to earn an award. The winner may be an individual or group of individuals.

The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) offers the AICPA Accounting Scholars Leadership Workshop program (ASLW), which is an all-expenses-paid annual invitational program for minority accounting students. This event aims to strengthen students’ professional skills and understanding of the limitless possibilities and benefits of earning the CPA credential.

Attendees will participate in learning sessions and panel discussions covering a wide array of topics such as developing leadership skills and passing the CPA exam. AICPA Foundation covers the cost of student attendees’ transportation to/from the workshop location, hotel accommodations, training experience, and meals. The Fulbright U.S. Scholar offers the Fulbright Global Scholar Award, which allows U.S. academics and professionals to engage in multi-country, trans-regional projects. As a truly worldwide award, U.S. scholars will be able to propose research or combined teaching/research activity in two to three countries with flexible schedule options; trips can be conducted within one academic year or spread over two consecutive years. The Fulbright U.S. Scholar offers the Fulbright Public Policy Fellowship, which provides opportunities for U.S. early and mid-career professionals and practitioners to serve in placements in a foreign government ministry or institution around the world.

 

The Fulbright Public Policy Fellows build mutual understanding and contribute to strengthening the public sector while cultivating public policy experience in their area of expertise. The Fulbright Public Policy Fellowship also includes an independent research component that focuses on an issue related to the Fellow's in-country work.

The Fulbright U.S. Scholar offers the Fulbright Distinguished Scholar Awards. Awards in the Fulbright Distinguished Chairs Program are viewed as among the most prestigious appointments in the Fulbright Scholar Program. Candidates should be senior scholars and have a significant publication and teaching record. The awards are open to scholars who have more than seven years of experience in their discipline or area of expertise, though some awards may further restrict eligibility. The AFCEA Educational Foundation offers ROTC scholarships ranging from $2,000-$3,000 each are awarded to an Army, Navy (including Marine Corps option), or Air Force ROTC full-time sophomore or junior students with at least an overall 3.0 GPA or above.

This Scholarship will provide scholarship funding for full-time college students that are underrepresented minorities (i.e. technical female, African-Americans, Latin/Hispanic origin, and/or Native American) or a Gold Star Family Member, currently pursuing a graduate degree (Masters or Ph.D.) at an accredited academic institution in the United States and living in the United States. The eligible majors for this scholarship support the mission of the AFCEA Educational Foundation. In addition to the diversity requirement, applicants must also be either a current member of the Armed Forces, have prior military experience, or be a Gold Star Family Member.
