The Black Community Scholarship Fund was established by the Black Community Fund (BCF) Board of Directors to provide scholarship support to African-American students from the Greater Kansas City area seeking educational advancement through a college or university degree or accredited certificate program in areas and fields determined by the Black Community Fund Board of Directors. Applicants must be of African-American heritage; must reside in the six (6) county Kansas City metropolitan area (Jackson, Platte, Clay and Cass counties in Missouri, Wyandotte and Johnson counties in Kansas). The National Future Farmers of America (FFA) is an intracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. The National FFA offers the John Deere Dealer Scholarship Program to High-school senior or college students pursuing a degree in the Agribusiness Systems of Power Structural and Technical Systems AFNR Career Pathways. Applicant must attend a chapter identified by a participating John Deere dealer and have a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

The Kansas Board of Regents offers the Kansas Military Service Scholarship, which is available for the payment of tuition and fees at a public Kansas institution for students who are a resident of Kansas and has served in military service in international waters or on foreign soil in support of military operations for which the person received hostile fire pay for at least 90 days after September 11, 2001, or served less than such 90 days because of injuries during such military service; has received an honorable discharge or under honorable conditions (general) discharge from military service or is still in military service; and has provided copies of military discharge papers (DD-214 form) or active duty orders whichever such paper or order indicate the location of such person’s deployment and indicate the person has served after September 11, 2001, in any military operation for which the person received hostile fire pay. The Harper Memorial Scholarship was started at the suggestion of Governor Bill Graves, among others, as a way to honor Steve's dedication to Kansans and serving the Kansas outdoors. Simon Youth Foundation works to help students achieve their goals, and cost alone should not prevent a student from furthering their education. Each year, SYF awards $1 million in scholarships to help students with the cost of post-secondary education. Those scholarships are available to high school seniors living near a Simon mall or in the surrounding communities. The Simon Youth Academy Scholarships support graduates of SYF’s 42 nationwide Simon Youth Academies through renewable two- and four-year scholarships. Two-year scholarship recipients are eligible for up to $4,000 per year for two years (based on available funding); four-year scholarship recipients are eligible for up to $8,000 per year for four years (based on available funding).
